Al Horford delivered the game-winning buzzer-beater in another Celtic comeback.

Portland 96, Boston 95. That’s what the scoreboard read with zero time on the clock. Celtics scoreboard operators quickly corrected the error.

“I don’t know,” Horford said of the shot. (How Big Phlegmatic is that? As is well-known, Boston fans love their star quarterbacks humble and soft-spoken.)

“There’s a lot of emotions going on,” he added. “This group is all about heart.”

Indeed, the Celtics once again overcame a 15-point-plus deficit. As well, for the third straight game, they played without Kyrie Irving, Marcus Smart, Shane Larkin, Marcus Morris. (Newly-acquired Greg Monro as also unavailable). In recent days, reading the Celtics “will not play” list was like going over the damage reports during the Sherman’s march to the sea.

Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier, and Jayson Tatum — the “3-point Amigos” — all hit clutch shots during the 4th quarter stretch run.

Fortunately, Rozier, Brown, and several other Celtics pressed into duty at the guard spot delivered on both ends. As evidence, we submit this datum: Blazers star Damian Lillard shot just 6 for 19. Lillard did score Portland’s final eight points, including a 3-point play with 7.2 seconds remaining to give the Blazers a 96-95 lead — setting the stage for Horford’s heroics.

Portland had scored at least 100 points in 17 consecutive games when they flew into Boston. When they flew out, it was without the streak.

And then, Rozier goes you-know-who for the lead. (Rhymes with “NJ.”)

Postgame comments

Afterwards, Jaylen Brown talked (a little) about Horford: “I can’t even speak.” (Hence his mom’s nickname, “the old man.”)

Followed up by a Parcellsian: “Al does… what he does.”
