Scary Terry – Knicks unwary – Celtics win. Score close? Not very.

Scary Terry Rozier - Boston Celtics - NY Knicks - triple doube

For at least the next 48 hours, Scary Terry Rozier will hold several unique records in professional sports.

— the only player in NBA history to average a triple double over every career start.

— the only Boston quarterback wearing #12 with an undefeated record against New York teams (oops- ouch!).

— the first NBA player to notch a triple double in his first start since some guy in 1971, when the term “triple double” didn’t exist.

… and on and on.

That’s the big news coming out of what was technically listed as an “NBA basketball game” Wednesday. (Waiting on official confirmation from BasketballReference.com). Still, according to both ESPN and the NBA, it was a non-G-league team that came to the Garden. The Celtics beat that team — “the New York Knicks,” according to documents leaked to Celtics247 — 103-73.

Yes, Marcus Morris continued his hot shooting and scored 20 points before a horrible looking fall forced him out of the game after 19 minutes on the floor. On a night when Marcus Smart, Shane Larkin, and Kyrie Irving couldn’t suit up, Abdel Nader also chipped in with 10 points and 3 assists in 28 efficient minutes.

And note, Jaylen Brown executed a dunk on Kristaps Porzingis that rocked the Garden. As we file, rescue workers are still searching for unicorn limbs in a 300-yard radius of TD Banknorth. The posterization was so riveting it caused even the ESPN crew doing play-by-play to cease discussing Clippers trade options — briefly — and comment on the game.

(In the post-game, Brown was asked by reporters to rate his Porzingas posterization. He coyly gave it only a “5.” We can’t wait to see an 8 or a 9. “10” would evidently have to involve a radius of destruction that would involve nuclear blast proportions.)

But it was Scary Terry who stole the show. Rozier tossed in 17 points to go with 11 rebounds and 10 assists in his first start.

(And yes, it’s “Scary Terry.” Everyone knows that in a recent interview, Terry himself expressed confusion and reservations about the moniker. Which only goes to show you, the emerging Celtic star deserves better management. Crafted with love by fans, nurtured at the Boston Celtics subreddit over years, it’s an enviable brand. “Scary Terry” merchandise would probably be out-selling Star Wars, the Avengers, and Kardashian lingerie photos combined… if only someone at the Verus Team had their wits about them. Aaron Turner, call your office.)
