Give the man a hand: Why we hope Rondo plays…

Rajon Rondo copyright Chicago Sun Times

Here’s hoping Rajon Rondo returns to action. Just hear us out.

Now, realistically, if he does play, he’ll be limited.

(Tho advanced stats suggest he actually plays better in nationally televised games with less than two fully usable arms.)

But whether limited, featuring donor parts from a Panamanian dictator, or with a Sith-technology mechanical hand, we hope to see Rondo again in this series, and the sooner the better, because:

Beating their best

1. The Celtics should be able to beat the Bulls at full strength. We’d rather face their best lineup. The Celtics don’t need rest, or the easy path, they need playoff time together and toughening and development.

2. Okay, he’s one of our faves and we love watching him play. No, we don’t hope he plays well enough to beat us, but we’d rather root for the Celtics to beat the Bulls with him than without him.

Playoff Rondo….

3. Finally, it would just be vintage, bitchin’, over-the-top Rondo cool.

Remember this guy making a between-the-legs steal against the Magic? Remember the arm-in-a-cast game?

Stuff like this is the reason for watching sports. It’s the reason for rooting for the Celtics.
