Uh oh. The apparent grand visions of ‘Boogie’ Cousins as the ultimate rim protector in Boston could be a miracle at this point. According to CSNCalifornia.com, the Kings are looking towards the playoffs next season and plan on doing so with DeMarcus Cousins as the centerpiece. This runs counter to an earlier report from Marc Stein over at ESPN who thinks the Celtics are likely to be aggressors for Cousins’ services right out of the gate:
Will they open their war chest of future draft picks to try to pryDeMarcus Cousins away from Sacramento via trade? The early word out there is: Bank on it.
Will they be in the mix for pretty much any name player who unexpectedly comes available in coming months?
Bank on that, too.
Tough to say what reality might be at this point. Very possible that Sacramento is lying in order to elevate their return in a trade. You can bank on one thing–Cousins wouldn’t come cheap–expect at least three #1’s or some other combination of youth and picks. Not like the Celtics don’t have the trade bait. Should be an interesting off-season.
