The Celtics gets back at it tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers (15-51) at the TD Garden. Boston has won six of their last seven and will be looking to win their fifth straight tonight. Boston came away with one of their most impressive wins of the season with a 93-89 victory over the surging Pacers on Saturday.
Tyler Zeller was the MVP against the Pacers with 18 points on eight of 10 shooting while Brandon Bass, Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder all chipped in with 16 points a piece. Defensively, the Celtics had trouble with George Hill who score 30 points on 11 of 18 shooting. With the win, Boston improved to 29-36 which keeps them right in the mix for the last two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Sixers have won two of their last four, including an impressive comeback win over the Kings. Philadelphia fell to the Nets, 94-87 on Saturday: Nerlens Noel led the team in scoring with a game high of 17 points on 7 of 10 shooting while Isaiah Canaan added 13 points. The Sixers played well in the first half, but the Nets turned it on in a 23-10 third quarter and put the Sixers away.
As a team, the Sixers shot just 37.2 percent from the field and it was mainly because they were forced into too many three-point shots where they made just eight of 37. With the loss, Philadelphia drops to 15-51 on the season and 10-24 at home.
In ATS trends, the Celtics are 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
The Sixers have been playing better than their record suggests but this looks like a good spot for the Celtics to stay hot with a double digit win at home. Boston is a 9 point favorite. I like them to win and cover the spread.
Prediction: Celtics 104, Sixers 92
