Andre Dawkins introduced himself to the media on Sunday before the Celtics faced the Miami Heat Super Bowl Sunday. Dawkins was initially signed to a 10 Day Contract back in January but has been playing for the Maine Red Claws in the D-League. Dawkins, 24, played college ball at Duke from 2009 to 2014 yet went undrafted when he left school last year. Dawkins also has been dealt a few rough breaks–TNT Analyst David Aldridge provided an evaluation of Dawkins before the 2014 Draft:
Dawkins is a pure, exceptional shooter who can get on major rolls. He had to adjust to playing this season with freshman sensation Jabari Parker, and after taking a year off to deal with the depression created by the death of his sister in 2009, Dawkins didn’t have the same spot in the Blue Devils’ rotation. But he gets marks from NBA types for returning to the team and having a credible senior season.
