Marcus Smart’s stay wasn’t very long in Maine. Just one day to be exact.
The Celtics recalled Smart and fellow rookies James Young and Dwight Powell from Maine on Friday. All three were assigned to Boston’s D-League affiliate on Thursday to get some extra work in. Will this improve the Celtics chances going forward or change the sports betting odds? It’s hard to say right now.
Smart played 28 minutes in Maine’s 110-106 win over Fort Wayne on Thursday, tallying six points, five rebounds, seven assists, four steals and one block. Smart’s six points all came in the final minute to help the team seal the win.
Young scored a game-high 31 points while shooting 7-for-10 from beyond the arc, pulling down nine rebounds to go with three assists and three steals. He has appeared in three games for Maine this season, and is averaging 24.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 35.7 minutes per game over that span.
Powell recorded 21 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field, four rebounds, one steal and one block in 26 minutes. In two appearances with the team this season, he is averaging 21.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in 33.5 minutes per game.
